Job Title: CNC Machinist
Location: George, Iowa
Position Summary:
The CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision parts according to specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong machining experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. (This job description is intended to be a general guideline of responsibilities. There will be incidental tasks not listed on a job description that arise and, as a member of the DTI team. Each employee is expected to help in as many of these areas as they can.)
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, or other equipment) to produce precision parts.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machine settings.
- Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools to ensure accuracy.
- Adjust machine offsets and parameters as needed to maintain quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and keep equipment in safe, proper working condition.
- Maintain accurate production records and follow all quality and safety procedures.
- Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and supervisors to improve processes and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training preferred.
- 2+ years of experience as a CNC machinist in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Experience with CNC setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and quality control standards.
- Good communication skills.
- Organized and detailed oriented.
- Reliable attendance.
- Dependable.
Preferred Skills (Not Required):
- Experience with CNC programming (G-code, CAM software, etc.).
- Multi-axis machining experience.
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement knowledge.
