Built Bigger. Built Smarter. Built for What’s Next.

A new ground-up build in Kentucky delivers the capacity, flexibility, and control to meet rising demand.

In Fall 2024, Farmer’s Choice Feed in Kirksey, Kentucky, took a major step forward—building a new facility designed to support continued growth and expand into organic feed production.

Having outgrown their previous operation, the team set out to create a system that could increase capacity without sacrificing efficiency or quality. The result is a dual-line feed mill, with conventional and organic systems located on opposite ends of the building to ensure clear separation and smooth operation.

Each line is nearly identical and built for consistency. They feature Sudenga Industries’ roller mills, 3-ton mixers, weigh hoppers, surge bins, and 16-unit micro ingredient systems. At the core is Sudenga Industries’ CBX batching controller, delivering precise control across every batch.

With each mill capable of producing nearly 40 tons per hour, Farmer’s Choice now has the capacity to grow its customer base while reducing labor demands and improving overall efficiency.

A key factor in the project’s execution was the decision to source a majority of the equipment from a single manufacturer. Sudenga Industries supplied much of the core processing and material handling equipment, enabling a high level of system integration across components. This approach reduces interface risk between vendors, streamlines installation, and improves long-term serviceability. The project was driven forward by Dwight Unruh, whose leadership helped bring the new facility to life.

Beyond installation, ongoing technical support has proven to be a critical component of the system’s performance. Rapid response times and direct access to product expertise help minimize downtime and keep production on schedule.

“We went with Sudenga because they can do a complete package, they can walk you through everything, and it all matches up.”
