A Brief Q&A with Senior Manufacturing Engineer Kary Conaway

Q. Kary, how long have you worked for Sudenga Industries?

A. I have worked for Sudenga Industries for 32 years.

Q. Have you worked as a manufacturing engineer throughout your entire career at Sudenga?

A. I was originally hired as a design engineer, working on the Ranger all season mobility scooters and lifts. I also designed products for the Mills (feed processing) product line. I did that for the first 7 years, during which time I received 2 design patents. I also was the de facto IT department and helped implement the first computer network at the plant. After that I transitioned to a manufacturing engineering role, and am now currently working on special projects, mainly querying and analyzing data to aid people in their duties.

Q. Where did you grow up?

A. I grew up in Jewell, Iowa (just north of Ames) so I am a lifelong Iowa State University Cyclone fan and proud alumnus. Go State!!

Q. Do you have any favorite hobbies?

A. In my free time I enjoy long distance bike rides (my longest is 382 miles in just under 38 hours), rooting for the Cyclones, RAGBRAI, trips to the Boundary Waters, traveling with my wife, and spending time with my 8 grandchildren.
